Gardening Club Winter Update -January 2012
AGM - 12th January 2012
A large number of members attended the AGM in the Village Hall in Sunningwell. The Chairman thanked everyone for another successful year. A revised version of the Club’s constitution was read to the meeting and various amendments were made.
The Secretary briefly outlined the programme for the coming year, when we hope to follow a similar pattern to last year, with a members’ meeting and competition in early May, followed by the plant sale at the end of the month. Two visits are planned, one to Coughton Court in June and the second to Woburn Abbey Gardens in October. The Summer Social will be in August and the Christmas Party will be a week earlier, on the first Thursday of December. Copies of the programme will be handed to members in February. The Treasurer reported that the club’s finances were healthy. Subs for 2012 remain at £6; entry to meetings is £2 (rising to £3 for non-members after the first visit). There were 48 members last year.
Val Reynolds and Jackie Gould were re-elected as Chairman/Treasurer and Secretary respectively, Leslie Perrem was elected as Vice-Chairman. Jacky Jordan, June Morris and Yvonne Ruscoe were elected as committee members. Maureen Campbell, the retiring member, was thanked for her years of help on the committee.
A vote of thanks to all members of the committee was proposed and the meeting was closed.
Members are reminded that Abingdon Garden Plants (Lodge Hill) have kindly agreed to give club members a 10% discount on purchases on production of the current programme.
